Suspected bandits have killed Alhaji Isah Daya, the District Head of Kanya, during a daring rescue operation by security forces in Kebbi State.

A statement from the Police Command in Birnin Kebbi, the state capital ,said that the incident occurred on October 6, when Daya was abducted along with eight others in Kanya District, located in the Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area.

The Command recalls that on October 8, at approximately 10:00 a.m., a combined team of police, military, and local vigilantes launched a rescue mission in the Sakaba forest.

It added that while the operation successfully freed eight of the nine kidnapped victims, tragically, Alhaji Isah Daya lost his life during the encounter with the kidnappers.

The qouted the Commissioner of Police in the state,CP. Bello Muhammad Sani as expressing his condolences to the Kebbi State government, the Zuru Emirate, and Daya’s family, praying for his soul to rest in peace.

This incident is part of a troubling trend of bandit attacks in Kebbi State. On the same day as Daya’s abduction, reports emerged of bandits invading Kanya village, leading to the death of one individual, Sheriff Almu.

Sources from the Kebbi State Government indicate that Governor Nasir Idris’s administration is actively working to improve security and development in the region.
