By Daniel Peters.

The Federal Government has launched Project Phoenix, a transformative initiative aimed at enhancing revenue generation and collection within the lottery and gaming sector in a renewed effort to revitalize the nation’s economy,

During the inaugural meeting of the Joint Committee for the implementation of the Revenue Assurance Platform (RAP), Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, outlined the project’s goals.

He stated that Project Phoenix seeks to establish a transparent and efficient revenue collection system to maximize government earnings while safeguarding citizens from fraud.

“The project will strengthen regulation, ensure compliance, recover outstanding revenues from operators, and implement advanced monitoring systems to protect consumers,” Mr. Edun explained.

Key deliverables of the project include the successful rollout of the Revenue Assurance Platform (RAP), recovery of outstanding revenues, and policy recommendations to enhance the sector further.

Emphasizing the need to boost domestic resources for Nigeria’s economy and social programs, Mr. Edun stressed the importance of transparent revenue collection in the lottery and gaming sector, which RAP will facilitate.

He encouraged committee members to collaborate effectively and assured them of the government’s support in achieving the project’s objectives.

As Nigeria’s gaming sector prepares for growth, this initiative underscores the government’s commitment to transparency and accountability. With Project Phoenix, Nigeria is taking significant strides towards leveraging the potential of the lottery and gaming industry to foster socio-economic development, according the minister.
