Mrs. Kikelomo Adeniyi, National President of the Customs Officers Wives Association (COWA), has called on women to focus on capacity building to foster sustainable national development.
During her visit to the Customs Ogun Area 1 Command in Idiroko, she emphasized the importance of self-improvement through education and training.
She said,“We must continuously seek ways to enhance our skills and knowledge,” Adeniyi stated. “This is vital for supporting our families and communities effectively.”
In a developing nation like Nigeria, she highlighted that empowering women through education and skills development is not just advantageous, but essential.
Adeniyi encouraged women to invest in personal growth, enabling them to better navigate modern challenges, support their children’s education, and explore entrepreneurial opportunities.
She reaffirmed COWA’s commitment to supporting the widows of fallen heroes and praised Area Comptroller Mr. James Ojo for his significant support of the association.
Mrs. Folu-Ojo Adenike, Chairperson of COWA Ogun I Chapter, acknowledged Adeniyi’s dedication to improving the lives of Customs officers’ families, stating that her efforts have positively impacted wives, children, and orphans of both serving and deceased officers.
In response, Area Comptroller Ojo expressed gratitude for Adeniyi’s visit and reiterated his commitment to supporting COWA’s mission.
During the event, COWA distributed bags of rice to 50 widows of Customs officers and awarded scholarships, cash prizes, and exercise books to outstanding students from the Nigeria Customs Nursery, Primary, and Secondary School.
