NYSC Launches Tree Planting Campaign to Combat Deforestation in Kwara.

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Kwara State has initiated a significant tree planting campaign at its permanent orientation camp in Yikpata, Edu Local Government Area in a robust response to deforestation.

The campaign, which successfully planted 1,600 trees,on Thursday ,is part of broader state efforts to restore the region’s diminishing forest cover.

The NYSC State Coordinator Mr. Onifade Olaoluwa Joshua , who spearheaded the initiative, said the importance of such effort in addressing Nigeria’s escalating deforestation crisis cannot be overemphasized

He also stressed the need for urgent action to counteract the adverse effects of deforestation.

“Corps members and camp officials joined forces in the planting effort. Furthermore, the Corps members have established the Forestation Vanguard,” a group dedicated to advocating for tree planting and environmental sustainability across Kwara State.

“This initiative underscores the NYSC’s dedication to environmental preservation and its proactive role in addressing climate change from the grassroots level,” he said.
