Security Guard Steals Bag Valued at N200,000, Jailed 1 Year in Prison.

An Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun state on Wednesday sentenced 35-year-old security guard, Bukola Akingbade to one year in prison for stealing a lecturer’s bag containing a cellphone and other items valued at N200,000.

Akingbade, who did not provide her address, was charged with theft and pleaded guilty.

Magistrate Mrs. O.O. Fadairo,delivered the ruling, sentenced Akingbade to one year in prison without the option of a fine.

The Prosecutor, Insp. E.O. Adaraloye told the court that the the convict committed on January 18 at around 5:30 a.m. at Covenant University, Ota.

According to him,Akingbade, employed as a security guard at the university, unlawfully took a bag belonging to Dr. Abiodun Eniayekan, containing a cellphone, ATM card, and other valuables totaling N200,000.

The prosecutor said that the offence contravenes Section 390 of the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun, 2006.
