Many National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members deployed to Niger State were unexpectedly de-camped by the management without official explanation.
Attempts to obtain clarification from the NYSC management were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
According to our correspondent, the affected corps members, originally from Batch B but reassigned to Batch C, arrived at the Paiko Orientation Camp near Minna over the weekend, expecting to continue with their documentation.
To their dismay, the corps members were abruptly instructed to leave the camp by 5 a.m. without any prior notice.
They were informed that no arrangements had been made for their stay.
The corps members, who had traveled from various parts of the country, expressed frustration over the lack of proper arrangements and the sudden cancellation of their deployment.
Some of the Corps members told our correspondent on Monday that they had incurred significant expenses traveling to the camp and were now left without resources to return home.
One member from Edo State, who said that she spent over N40,000 on transportation, pleaded for government assistance as she was unable to afford the return trip.
Our correspondent reports that the de-camped corps members were left stranded with their luggage scattered on the camp grounds.
When contacted for her reaction to the development, the state NYSC Coordinator, Mrs. Olayinka Abdulwahab, responded curtly, stating, “I am not interested in what you are talking about.”
