The Kwara State Governor and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has underscored the pivotal role of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Nigeria’s progress.

At the official opening and swearing-in of the 2024 Batch B Stream 2 orientation course at the NYSC camp in Yikpata, Edu Local Government Area, Governor AbdulRazaq, represented by the Commissioner for Youth Development, Hon. Shehu Ndanusa Usman, praised the federal government’s commitment to the scheme.

The Governor described the NYSC as a fundamental platform for national unity and development, where educated Nigerian youths are mobilized for nation-building.

He urged the newly inducted corps members to uphold discipline, stay focused, and show loyalty and patriotism throughout their service year and beyond.

He reiterated his administration’s dedication to prioritizing the welfare of corps members in the state.

The State Coordinator of NYSC in Kwara, Mr. Onifade Olaoluwa Joshua, thanked the governor for funding the renovation of the sewage system at the NYSC camp and commended him for being a youth-friendly leader whose example should inspire others.

During the ceremony, 1,960 corps members, comprising 949 males and 1,011 females, took the oath of allegiance administered by the representative of the Kwara State Chief Judge, Hon. Justice E.B. Mohammed.
