Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has revealed plans to employ at least 9,000 teachers in government-owned schools across the state.

The announcement was made on Wednesday during the burial ceremony of the late First Class Chief, Tor-Jerchira, HRH Chief Clement Uganden, in Vandeikya Local Government Area.

Governor Alia emphasised that the recruitment drive reflects his commitment to good governance, despite opposition from those who wish to see his administration fail.

He reiterated his dedication to advancing peace, justice, and development in Benue State, warning detractors with harmful intentions to desist.

During the ceremony, Governor Alia also paid tribute to the late Tor-Jerchira, describing him as a beacon of hope who positively impacted many lives, regardless of their background.

The governor urged the people of Tiv to uphold the Chief’s legacy by fostering unity and treating each other as one indivisible community.
