Dr. Valentine Iheukwumere Oparaocha, one of the contestants in the January 10, 2021, Ohaneze Ndi-Igbo President-General election held in Owerri, Imo State, has requested the Ohaneze Ndi-Igbo Electoral Committee to review the election results for fairness and justice.
Oparaocha, who claimed to have finished second, alleged that the former President, late George Obiozor, was disqualified due to age but was still allowed to stand and was subsequently declared the winner.
He noted that the late Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, who did not participate in the election, was appointed President-General after Obiozor’s death.
Oparaocha, a retired security expert, who expressed dissatisfaction with the process and the appointment of Iwuanyanwu, emphasizing that there were electoral irregularities.
In a petition to the Electoral Committee’s headquarters in Enugu, he argued that despite the recent vacancy and the ongoing tenure for Imo State candidate, he should be considered for the position.
He said that he should be the rightful occupant of the office due to the electoral process being compromised.
Oparaocha expressed willingness to cooperate with an investigation and provide evidence regarding the election held at Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri.
