The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has invalidated the certificates of 101 individuals who were fraudulently mobilized by the University of Calabar (UNICAL) for the 2021, 2022, and 2023 service years. This action is part of a broader effort to combat certificate fraud and uphold the integrity of the national service program.
Eddy Megwa, NYSC’s Director of Information and Public Relations, who disclosed in Abuja on Monday,emphasized that the move is crucial for maintaining the programme’s integrity and ensuring only qualified individuals are issued service certificates.
The affected certificates have been canceled immediately, and the NYSC has warned it would continue to pursue fraudulent activities.
The NYSC advisesthe public and various organizations, including Corps Employers, government agencies, and corporations, to verify the authenticity of service certificates. The public can confirm certificates at the NYSC National Directorate Headquarters in Abuja to avoid employing or accepting fake corps members.
Megwa reiterated the NYSC’s commitment to recognizing only qualified individuals, particularly stressing the importance of validating certificates from accredited institutions.
