Kidnappers Abduct Kogi Journalist’s Wife, 2 Daughters in Kaduna.

Wife and two daughters of Muhammed Bashir, a correspondent for New Telegraph Newspaper in Kogi State, were among ten family members kidnapped on Thursday in Kaduna State. The family had arrived in Kaduna earlier that day for a holiday in a suburb of the city.

Bashir, who is based in Lokoja, Kogi State, shared the news with colleagues on Friday via a brief statement.

“My dear colleagues, please pray for me. My wife, two daughters, and eight other family members were kidnapped yesterday by unknown gunmen in Kaduna, where they were on holiday.

“Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers,” he posted on the Kogi Correspondents’ Chapel WhatsApp platform,” he said.

Bashir said that he had contacted the police and the Department of State Services,DSS and received assurance that efforts were underway to rescue the victims and arrest the kidnappers.

Bashir’s wife and her two daughters arrived Kaduna earlier on Thursday for a holiday in a suburb of Kaduna.

Bashir, a correspondent with the NewTelegraph Newspaper, disclosed this to colleagues on Friday in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital, in a terse statement.

“My dear colleagues, please I need your prayers. My two daughters and their mother, including eight others, were kidnapped yesterday by unknown gunmen in Kaduna where they went for a holiday.

” Pls pray for me,” he wrote in the Kogi Correspondents’ Chapel WhatsApp platform.

He said he had contacted the police and the Department of State Services, and had been assured that steps were being taken to rescue the victims and arrest the kidnappers.

The Reporters recalls that Abdulgafar Alabelewe and Abduraheem Aodu, two journalists in Kaduna, and their familie were kidnapped from their homes about a month ago.

They later regained their freedom through the efforts of the police and other security agencies in the state after spending some days in kidnappers’den.
