The Paramount ruler and President of Benue State Council of Traditional Rulers, Tor Tiv, Professor James Ayatse, has appealed to those planning national protests from August 1, 2024 to suspend their plans and allow seamless implementation of measures to address the discontent in the land.

Ayatse said allowing space for dialogue will equally meet the demands of the protest planners by government.

The Tor Tiv in a statement on Tuesday signed by his media aide, Freddie Adamgbe, believed that by suspending the peaceful national protest, it may deny the enemies of the country the opportunity to possibly hijack the protest to achieve their sinister goals.

He acknowledged the suffering in the land, appreciated and identified with the feelings of the people at a time like this, but appealed to people in his domain, Benue State and the general public to exercise patience by giving the Federal Government more time to address the hunger, general high cost of living and insecurity in the land.
