President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, Passes Away at 82.

The President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, has passed away at the age of 82. The sad news was confirmed in a statement released on Thursday by Jide Iwuanyanwu, the son of the late Chief Emmanuel.

According to the statement, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu died on Thursday after a brief illness. The announcement from the Iwuanyanwu family of Umuohii Atta, in Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State, described him as their patriarch, known in full as Engr Chief Emmanuel Chukwuemeka Iwuanyanwu-Ahaejiagamba Ndigbo.

“Chief Iwuanyanwu before his death was President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo worldwide and President of Owerri Peoples Assembly,” the statement read.

Chief Iwuanyanwu was widely respected as a prominent figure in Igbo socio-cultural and political circles, leaving behind a legacy of leadership and service.
