Educationist Stresses Constructive parent-Adolescent Relationships.

An educationist, Mrs. Janet Yesufu,on Monday ,delivered crucial advice to parents and adolescents at the Graduation and Prize Giving Day of LGEA School, Gadumo in Ajaokuta Local Government Area of Kogi State.

Yesufu,who was the guest speaker,emphasized the importance of fostering healthy and positive relationships within families, particularly between parents and their adolescent children.

She described the relationship dynamics during adolescence as complex and challenging and offered practical guidance to help strengthen familial bonds.

“If you were influenced by parents or adults who were kind and compassionate, those lessons are parts of who are and what you will be proud to pass along to your children in influencing your child positively,” she said.

Key suggestions she gave include;fostering open communication, practicing empathy, establishing clear boundaries, mutual respect, effective conflict resolution, showing appreciation and gratitude, spending quality time together, understanding differences patiently, and seeking support when needed.

Yesufu encouraged parents to reflect on their own values and experiences from childhood, emphasizing the impact of creating positive memories with their children.

She stressed the significance of parental support and understanding during the teenage years, urging parents to remain observant and supportive of their children’s emotional and behavioral changes.

In her inspiring remarks, the school’s headmistress, Hajia Rashidat Ibrahim called upon graduating pupils to uphold not only academic excellence but also good conduct and manners.

Hajia Ibrahim told the graduands that all the preaching, scolding and punishments they received I the school were meant to refine them, reminding them that “for gold to shine,it must pass through fire.”

The ceremony include cultural performances, depicting the rich cultural dances in kogi state,cutting of cake,news broadcasts by pupils, debates, quiz competitions for parents and the presentation of awards to outstanding graduands amon other events.
