At approximately 9:10 a.m., concerned citizens alerted authorities to a distressing incident at ASO Radio in Katampe, where a young man had scaled a towering mast with a placard. The FCT Police Command promptly responded to the scene.

According to SP Josephine Andeh, spokesperson for the FCT Police, after extensive efforts by police negotiators, the man, identified as Shuaibu Alhaji Yushau, was successfully persuaded from attempting suicide.

“Andeh stated that the individual had been monitoring the mast for about a week before deciding to climb it,” the report reads.

Currently under police custody and in stable condition, Shuaibu Alhaji Yushau’s situation will be updated as new information becomes available.

The FCT Police assured that the investigation is ongoing.
