ABU Alumni Association, Kogi Branch, Forms Committee for Environmental Sanitation.

Members of the he Ahmadu Bello University Alumni Association, Kogi State Branch, have established a five-member committee to oversee their upcoming environmental sanitation programme in Lokoja, the state capital.

Following their monthly meeting held at the NBA Secretariat in Lokoja on Thursday, the branch resolved to create the committee as part of its commitment to social responsibility towards the society and in promoting a clean environment in the state.

The decision is also seen as a proactive measure to prevent the spread of cholera outbreaks, which hass recently affected 31 states across the country, prompting various states to intensify containment efforts.

The Chairing the committee is Mal. Garba Abdullahi, the Deputy Chairman of the branch, with members including Honorable Adama Yahaya, Alhaji Ibrahim Kenchi, Alhaji Ahmed Adamu, and Alhaji Dada Ahmed.

The committee’s responsibilities include identifying specific locations in Lokoja in need of environmental sanitation and coordinating efforts to clean them.

Additionally, members of the committer will propose a suitable date for the exercise, collaborate with the State Environmental Sanitation Board under the Ministry of Environment, ensure adequate publicity, and recruit temporary laborers to assist with the cleanup.

Engr. Mohammed Sagir, the chairman of the branch, encouraged members of the committee members to diligently fulfill their roles, emphasizing the importance of the initiative in promoting social responsibility and maintaining a clean environment in Kogi State.

In response, the committee chairman expressed commitment to the task and solicited cooperation from all members to ensure the success of their assignment.
