Exco members of the ABU Alumni Association, Kogi state branch, rose from their monthly meeting in Lokoja on Thursday, resolved to leverage on aggressive publicity in arousing the consciousness of members to boost attendance at their meeting.
This is one of the resolutions of the meeting of the branch, presided over by the state chairman,Engr. Mohammed Sagir, at the Secretariat of the Nigerian Bar Association, Lokoja.
Members expressed concern over the dwindling number of members attending the monthly meeting of the branch,a development they described as inimical to the progress and development of the branch.
They, therefore, called on members of the executive council of the branch to use the same method they adopted in wooing members for votes that ensured their electoral victory, during the last election.
The meeting also arrived at the decision that members would organize some social activities such as visit to orphanage homes, road walk and courtesy visit on top government officials, such as heads of tertiary institutions in the state.
They expressed optimism that through such effort which would attract publicity, the branch would be able to attract attention of many members and join the executive in moving the branch forward.
Members also emphasized the need for the association to effectively use the forum of permanent secretaries in the state, which includes some ABU graduates, to appeal to the conscience of other ABU graduates in their respective ministry, for members to cultivate the culture of attending the meeting regularly.
Engr.Sagir, in his brief address of welcome during the meeting, commended members who turned up and appealed to those lagging behind to emulate such positive action for the progress and development of the branch.
The meeting appealed to members in attendance to see themselves as Publicity Secretary of the branch and use that as an advantage in appealing to other members to attend the monthly meeting.
The next meeting of the branch comes up first Thursday of July,2024 at the same venue.
