Federal government has announced that the federal University of Lafia Teaching Hospital will soon commence operation.
The Minister of Health and Welfare, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate, disclosed this when he received the Emir of Lafia, Justice Sidi Bage(rtd) in Abuja on Wednesday during the traditional ruler’s “Thank you visit.
He said the federal government was committed to providing enduring facilities needed for the health of its citizens.
The minister, who appreciated the Emir for the visit, assured him that very soon, the Teaching Hospital would become a reality.
” I will personally come to Lafia to present the official letter for the take off of Federal University of Lafia Teaching Hospital”, the Minister further assured.
Professor pate said he was overwhelmed by the emir’s exceptional leadership disposition and his track records in the nation’s judiciary.
The minister,who assured that there was no cause for alarm, saying that the issue of the teaching hospital is a “done deal”, also commended Hon. Yusuf Jibrin Maiangwa,the Senior Special Assistant (SSA),Liason to the governor for being a good ambassador of Nasarawa State in Abuja.
Earlier, the Emir of Lafia and Chairman Nasarawa State Traditional Council of Chiefs, rtd. Justice Sidi Bage had commended President Ahmed Bola Tinubu for placing Nasarawa state as one of the favoured states in his administration.

The visit according to the Emir is to officially thank the Minister for the good work he is doing in transforming the health sector in line with President Tinubu renewed Hope agenda.
” I must said I’m very impressed with your performance and the support you have been given to our state, particularly Lafia and, the State Capital.
“Honestly,I want to see this Teaching Hospital start functioning during my time as the Emir of Lafia that is why I’m here. I must commend you Hon. Minister for your patriotism to serve your country for accepting Mr president’s offer to come back home while serving in a higher Capacity abroad.
” I’m also aware of the effort you have been making towards ensuring the smooth take off of the Teaching hospital,we really appreciate.
” However like Oliver twist, I want to also encourage you to put more effort because our people need it”. the emir stressed.
He also applauded Governor Abdullahi Sule for providing all the necessary enablement to ensure that the Teaching Hospital takes off as soon as possible.
Emir Bage also praised former Governor of the State, Senator Umaru Tanko Almakura, for sponsoring a bill which gave rise to the teaching hospital when he was at the National Assembly.
Justice Bage expressed confidence that the teaching hospital would, no doubt, complement the state government efforts at providing quality and accessable healthcare services to the people and create job opportunities among others advantages.
Our correspondent recalls that the the Teaching Hospital was approved by former president Muhammadu Buhari and the state specialist hospital, also known as Dalhatu Specialist Hospital,DASH, lafia ceded to the federal government as permanent site for the take off of the Teaching Hospital.
This was sequel a speedy legislation by Nasarawa State House of Assembly.
