,,,, Residents sigh relief, pray for early commence of rain.
By Dawud Ahmed in Lokoja.

Residents of Lokoja were on Sunday evening buried in the cobweb of euphoria of light rain and serious prayer for the start of a heavy rain that will chase out the excruciating heat that envelopes the state capital since February 2024.

Our correspondent reports that what looked like a divine answer to people’s constant prayer for” God to send down the rain” in Lokoja emerged on Sunday evening with breeze, followed by brief and light rain that cooled down the hot weather.

Though the light rain lasted for 15 minutes, as at the time of this report around 9 .30 p.m,some residents in Gadumo quarters in Lokoja expressed joy and relief over the development, saying that it had lessened the burden of the terrible heat on them.
Our correspondent reports that February to May has always been a tough time for most parts of kogi state and its residents, as they have to cope with the uneasy endurance of terrible heat which sometime rises above 40 degree centigrade with all the health and environmental implications.

They noted that the pain emanating from intense heat increased due to power outage that put cooling systems such as fans and air conditioners out of operation lasting for hours and in some instances, days.

Residents who said that consequent upon the upsurge in this year’s intensive heat, they had been forced to pass night outside the comfort of their bedroom for the past three months, told our correspondent that they would have the opportunity of sleeping in their room, however, short the period might be.
