NASG committed to promoting cultural festival for peaceful co-existence of citizens-Governor.

Nasarawa state government has reaffirmed it’s commitment to the promotion of cultural festival amongst various ethnic groups in the state, to promote their peaceful co-existence and meaningful development.

The Governor of the state, Engr. Abdullahi Sule,stated this at Imon Village, Saturday, venue of the Tiv Cultural day.

He called on every sociocultural organizations in the state to always organize their cultural festivities to ensure promotion of peace and provision of dividends of Democracy to the people.
Represented by the Permanent Secretary secretary( Administration), Government House, Lafia ,Alhaji Umaru Idris, governor Sule commended officials of the Tiv Development Association ( TIDA) for their consistence in stagging the annual cultural festival.

He assured the Tivs of the state government’s assistance in ensuring successful organization of of their festival, with the necessary backing.

Earlier, in his address of welcome , the TIDA President, Comrade Solomon Chunku, praised governor Sule for the opportunity he gave to Tiv sons and daughters to serve in his cabinet but appealed to him to create a Tiv Chiefdom for the community to enable them have a sense of belonging.

Comrade Chunku also appealed to the state government to as a matter urgency, resettle the displaced Tiv community that were forced out of their settlement as a result of crises within the Tiv enclaves in recent times.
According to him, most of Tiv kinsmen and Women are still suffering in refugee camps.

The TIDA President explained that the annual festival was being organized, annually, to promote peaceful coexistence within the Tiv people on one hand as well as ensure unity between them and their neighbors.
He appealed to the Tiv community to always embrace peace wherever they found themselves and commended the state government for always being there for them.

The Tiv leader promised that the Tiv community in the state would continue to give the administration in the state their unflinching support at all times.
