Buildings Harbouring Criminals in kogi Risk Pulling Down, govt.reads riot act.

Kogi State Security Adviser, Navy Commander Jerry Omodara (rtd), has warned landlords in the state to shun giving their property to criminals to avoid such facility pulled down.

He gave the riot act while speaking on a security enlightenment programme on Radio Kogi on Monday in Lokoja, warning that any house used for criminal activities in the state would be pulled down.

According to him, government and the people must join hands to tackle insecurity, stressing that security is a collective responsibility.

The Security Adviser, who commended the people of the state for giving useful information to security agencies noted that the move had helped in policing the state, urged them to do more.

He called on Caretaker Chairmen in the state to take charge of security in their respective local government areas.

Speaking on the efforts of the Governor Usman Ododo-led administration in the Area of security, Omodara said the state would be more secured under the present administration.

He explained that the present administration was building on the foundation of security laid down by former Governor Yahaya Bello, saying that the state security architecture is being reviewed to suit current trends.

While fielding questions on how improved security can enhance food security, Omodara enjoined people of the state to take responsibility by engaging in farming without fear of being attacked.

He stated that the first major meeting of the Governor Ododo was with farmers who gave the roadmap of ensuring food security in the state, promising that government would continue to do its best to ensure that farmers do their legitimate business.

Retired Commander Omodara stated that normalcy had returned to Obajana-Oshokoshoko road as well as Ogale-Aduge-Ayere roads, recently used by kidnappers to perform their activities.

He said the recent move by the Federal and State Governments to establish State Police is commendable and expressed optimism that it would provide a viable security architecture for the country.
The Reporters recalls that the immediate past Governor of the state, Alhaji Yahaya Bello,did similar thing during his first term in office when he personally supervised the pulling down of some buildings known for proving shelter to criminals in the state.
Security analysts noted that Bello’s efforts ,then, curbed criminal activities in the state.
