—Ofu council chairman sacked for alleged palliatives diversion.

By Otori Ozigi.

The ongoing zero tolerance for corruption under the administration of Alhaji Ododo Ahmed Usman, has claimed one victim in Kogi State, over alleged diversion of palliatives.

This is coming just as the transition chairman of Ofu local government area,Hon. Hassan Atawodi, has been fired for alleged diversion of palliatives targeted for vulnerable and the poorest of the poor in the area.

This was disclosed yesterday by the Secretary to the State Government,Dr Mrs Folashade Arike,in a statement made available to journalists in Lokoja, the state capital.

The statement disclosed that Hon.Musa Lawal has been appointed as the new transition chairman of the council with immediate effect.

The disgraced former chairman,Hon.Atawodi, was directed to hand over all properties of the council in his possession, adding that he should prepare a handing over notes to his successor.

Recall that the no nonsense Governor on February 24, warned against the diversion of the palliatives, while kick-starting the distribution of the items which commenced immediately.

He underscored the fact that the palliatives should not be distributed along party, tribal and ethnic affiliations, stressing that it would be equitably distributed across the state on a quarterly basis.

The war against corruption is one of the thematic areas of the administration of Alhaji Ododo Ahmed Usman, as he grapples with the challenges of governance in the years ahead.
