The Resident Pastor, House of the Rock Church, Minna,Niger state, Pastor PetRock Sadiq, has challenged Nigerian leaders to be patriotic in their words and actions by investing in providing dividends of democracy to the people,quickly, to end hardship and ensure peace in the country.
The Cleric gave the challenge on Sunday in Minna when he spoke with journalists shortly after the first Thanksgiving service for the year/Lands and Building development thanksgiving which took place at the church’s permanent site, Minna.
Pastor Sadiq traced the numerous setbacks bedeviling the nation and her citizenry to hunger, insecurity, corruption, joblessness.
The Pastor Sadiq said, “What we have in Nigeria of today is a situation or scenario whereby our leaders are no longer sleeping because the Nigerian masses are awake, hungry and angry”.
According to him, it is unfortunate that the elected have abandoned those who elected them to represent the masses at the legislative arm at the three tiers of government thereby widening the gap between those in leadership positions and those they claim to be leading or representing at all levels.
According to him,Nigerians are tired of leaders sitting in air-conditioned offices furnished with all imported furniture,while leaving the poor masses to die of hunger and frustration.
“You have more than enough choice foods for you and your family, your salaries and increase in your allowances. You drive choice cars, some go on bullet proofs, you dress in choice imported wears without caring how the masses are faring and you expect them to be happy?, he asked.
Pastor PetRock Sadiq, however, applauded Governor Bago for his developmental initiatives which he said was not just giving Minna, the state capital, a new look but also aimed at attracting local and foreign investors.
