A socio-cultural organization – the Edo Unity League Worldwide (EULW), has bought ‘Expression of Interest’ and ‘Nomination’ forms with N50m for Dr. Ernest Afolabi Umakhihe, a leading APC aspirant for Edo Governorship election.
The Group, represented by three of its Board of Trustee members – Chief Victor Ekhator, Comrade Orobosa Omo-Ojo JP and Comrade Aiyamenkhue Edokpolo have handed the forms over to the aspirant in Benin City.
The purchase was made from APC national Secretariat in Abuja with N50 million which the EULW said was a selfless gesture to enthrone responsible governance in Edo State.
“Let it be on record, that we, the Board of Trustees and Members of Edo Unity League Worldwide purchased these APC gubernatorial forms, at a whopping sum of #50,000,000.00 (Fifty million naira), for one of our members, as a seed of good governance investment.
“It will form a strong ground for us to interrogate Dr. Ernest Afolabl Umakhihe, if he wins the APC ticket in the primaries and is eventually returned elected as Governor of Edo State”, the BoT statement said.
The statement added that: “For us, we must demonstrate selflessness and the capacity to be above board in finding a candidate with the right socio-economic and political pedigree to lead our State from its present primordial prism of civil-service-state to a largely capitally productive one”.
“We are convinced we have made a very good choice and this democratic contribution by all our members will altruistically count for the prolific transformation of Edo people from November, 2024 by God’s Grace,” the statement said.
Only last week, the group pledge to buy forms for its choice APC aspirant.
Membership of the body is drawn from all 18 Local Government Areas of the state.
