Bello performs last installation of traditional rulers as Kogi governor.

The outgoing governor of Kogi State,Alhaji Yahaya Bello,on Friday, installed and gave staff of office to the 4th Maigari of Lokoja, Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Kabir Maikarfi and Mayaki of Kupa, Pharm.Dauda Kabir Isa in Lokoja, the capital of the state.
At the colourful occasion,he thanked the people of Lokoja and its environs for their support he noted enhanced the success of his eight years in office as governor.

Bello called on the traditional rulers in the state to extend the cooperate they gave to his government to that of his successor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo.

He expressed confidence in the ability of Ododo and his administration in building upon and consolidating on his achievements and enhance them for the benefit of people of the state.

Governor Bello, who noted that his administration recorded the installation and giving of staff of office to between 6 and 7 traditional traditional rulers within his eight years in office without rancour,thanked God for giving him the rare opportunity to perform such vital duty.

He said though he would soon “step aside”, having completed his two terms in office, he would continue to support the Ododo government to ensure it succeed and boost the development of the state.
Responding on behalf of his colleague, the new Maigari of Lokoja thanked the state government and the people for ensuring the reality of their appointment, adding that they would not betray the confidence the people reposed in them.
The Maigari promised to prioritize peace, education and tourism development during in his reign.
Our correspondent reports that many traditional rulers, title holders, and members of other segments of population,in and outside the shores of the state, attended the ceremony.
Elected twice as the governor of Kogi State on the platform of the All Progressives Congress,APC, Bello, popularly called “White lion,” will end his administration in the state on January 27,2024 and hand over the leadership to Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo also of APC.
