The Acting Governor of Ondo State,Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, was on Wednesday, sworn in as the governor of the Sunshine State.
He became the governor following the Denise of Mr.Olurotimi Akeredolu, sequel to an illness.
Akeredolu was on his second term as the governor of Ondo state when he took and eventually died in the early hours of Wednesday.
Our correspondent gathered that the swearing-in took place at Cocoa Conference Hall in the Governor’s office, Akure, the state capital, administered by the chief judge of the state, Justice Olusegun Odusola at 5:18 p.m.
At the occasion, the new governor said: “It is with heavy heart that I accept this onerous responsibility of taking over the reins of governance and affairs of our state.
“The unfortunate loss and passing of our beloved governor, leader and my dear principal, Arakurin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu.
“Today’s event has placed a burden on all of us to stay together as one, because we have to onerous responsibility to continue to sustain the legacies of Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, which was good governance.“We now have the responsibility to complete them.
“It is necessary for us to acknowledge, with pride, the wonderful achievements and legacies of Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, SAN, CON.”
Meanwhile,many prominent Nigerian, including Governors and politicians have expressed sadness over the death of the Akeredolu with tributes and encomiums on the political landscape of Nigeria and others spheres of life in the country.
