VC,Summit University, Offa, lauds trends in development in Federal Poly,Offa.

The Vice Chancellor, Summit University Offa, north central Nigeria, Prof.Musa Abiodun Aibinu, has commended the Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Offa, Engr. Dr. Kadiri Kamoru Oluwatoyin, for the new trends of development he has established in the Polytechnic since his assumption of duty.
The Vice Chancellor, gave the compensation, when he paid a courtesy visit to the Polytechnic,Offa on Thursday.
During the interactive meeting with the management, the VC expressed the readiness of the University to sign a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, with the Federal Polytechnic Offa in the area of research and academic programmes.
He added that the Federal Polytechnic Offa was chosen by Summit University for collaboration due to its proximity, academic stability, achievements, structural development, long-time relationship among others.
He said: “We at Summit University are ready to collaborate with you, though both schools have been impacting the community together.
“The University has been working tireless and jointly with some members of staff of the Polytechnic to make Offa the home of ICT and the largest producer of Printed Circuit Board in the upcoming weeks.”
Speaking further on the reasons for collaboration, he said, “The University needs the collaboration now that we are set to commence four (4) programmes in Engineering. “These are;Mechatronics, Electrical, Computer and Information and Communication Technology. “More so, we are commencing another four programmes under ICT, which are Data Science, Cybersecurity, Software Engineering and Information Technology.
“In addition, the University is going into a Cashew Plantation of 100 acres and needs the support of the Polytechnic in the area of Agriculture, as we cannot do it alone.”
The responding, the Rector, also commended the Vice Chancellor and his Management team for their efforts in the progress and development of the University so far.
According to him,the Management is ready to collaborate, support and work together with the University., assuring that the collaboration would be of benefit to both institutions.
Dr. Kadiri, however, noted that the Federal Polytechnic Offa and Summit University had not been doing much in the area of Corporate Social Responsibility in Offa Community.
He urged that it is time for both institutions to work together on how to have an impact on the host community in terms of community development.
The Rector said both institutions could achieve it through solving immediate problems of the community with the institutions’ research products.
He requested the duo of FEDPOFFA Registrar, Mr. G. O. Soko and Summit University Registrar, Mr. Mustapha Abayomi Kadiri to come up with a developmental plan that would serve as a guide to actualize the CSR idea.
In this regard, the Rector called on researchers from all the higher institutions in Offa community to align their research works with the pressing needs faced by the community.
