The Vicar, St. Peter’s Church, Gbaiko, Minna Niger state, north central Nigeria, Ven. Nathaniel Ayegh, has encouraged couples to learn to be patient with each other to keep their marriage .
This he said became necessary because fail homes leads to fail society whereby drug addiction, prostitution and other forms of crime and criminalities reign supreme.
Ayegh also observed that marriages fail due to faulty foundation, coupled with the absence of four cardinal tips; Care, Attention, Support and Honesty ‘CASH’ which are the basic ingredients needed for peaceful and successful union.
The Clergy man spoke in a sermon before joining in holy matrimony, Mr. Andrew Ternenge and Faith Hembafan on Sunday, adding that average Christian homes where these basic characteristics are missing would hardly survive storms associated with marriage.
He noted that cases of broken homes had been on the increase, largely due to harsh economic realities, whereby most families could hardly afford a basic meal per day and therefore encouraged couples to stand by each other as they struggle to survive the hard times.
Ayegh, who read from various portions of the Bible to buttress his points, argued that peaceful and successful homes were made possible when the two, joined as one in holy matrimony embraces the tenets of CASH to stem storms associated with marriages.
The role of money in marriage and sustaining same, Ven. Ayegh said cannot be overemphasised, adding however that money was very necessary to keep marriage going, but cannot answer all things, if God is not made the centre of union.
While admonishing Andrew and Faith who are workers in the church to ensure that God is made the centre of their union, Ayegh argued that poor parental is largely responsible for increase in crime and loss of touch with Nigeria’s moral values, customs and traditions.
Parents who devoted no time to train and monitor their wards, Ven. Ayegh said ended up in regrets because most of the children learnt bad habits from the streets, social media and the internet and end up becoming liabilities, causing disgrace instead of blessings to their immediate families, the society and Nigeria generally.
