Five persons lost their lives and 12 other sustained injury in an auto crash on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway before Foursquare Camp on sunday morning,south west Nigeria.
The Chief Route Commander, Florence Okpe, FRSC Public Education Officer for Sector Commander, FRSC Ogun Sector Command,disclosed this on Sunday in a statement made available to The Reporters.
According to her, FRSC Ogunmakin unit Command had carried out a rescue operation at the early hours of Sunday morning at about 0615 hrs,adding that the operating was done with the help of the police.
Okpe gave account of the accident:”A total of 21 persons were involved in a multiple crash and all male adult, 12 people were injured and unfortunately 05 persons were recorded death from the road traffic crash and the remaining unhurt.
“03 vehicles were involved with registration numbers KMC- 810ZB, a DAF truck, TMA- 244XA, a Toyota bus and a Mitsubishi pickup with no registration number on it.
“The suspected causes of the crash were speed, Tyre bust and lose of control on the part of the truck driver who’s vehicle crashed and occupied the road and others were running into the crash vehicle.
“The injured were taken to Victory Hospital,Ogere for medical attention while the corpses were deposited at FOS morgue, IPARA”.
According to her, the Sector Commander, FRSC Ogun state, CC.Anthony Uga,advised motorists to shun the use of sub-standard tyres and also apply common sense speed limit, “especially in this rainy season.”
The sector commander,she added, sympathized with the family of the victims and enjoined them to visit FRSC Ogunmakin unit for more information about the crash.
