Let’s wrestle ABU Alumni Association,Kogi branch from doldrum, Mahmud,Yahaya task members.

Members of the ABU Alumni Association, Kogi State branch, have been tasked to rise to the challenge of wrestling the branch from the era of inactivity.
The Chairman, Caretaker Committee of the branch, Dr.Danjuma Mahmud, gave the task on Thursday at the meeting of the branch at the NBA secretariat, Lokoja.
According to him, the inactivity in the branch, which has been on for some years now should be of great concern to members, adding that every member has the responsibility to change the narrative for good.
He expressed the determination of the caretaker committee to return the branch to era of vibrancy, where various result-oriented activities would be organised for the benefit of members and the state in general.
He,therefore, called on members to join the committee in realizing the onerous task.
Mahmud told members that he would contest for the position of Secretary General of the national body of the Association at AGM meeting in Zaria and solicited the support of members to ensure electoral victory.
Contributing, the Chairman, Electoral Committee of the branch, Alhaji Adama Yahaya, also called on members to be committed to realising any assignment given to them in the rescue mission, to save the life of the branch.
He also advised members to use their contacts and connections “to sell ABU Alumni Association” to other members who might not be aware of the current move to return the branch to its past glory, for them to join the vanguard in accomplishing the mission.
He said his committee had drawn up comprehensive electioneering programmes, aimed at electing a new executive council for the branch, come October,2023.
Our correspondent reports that members agreed that there was the need for the branch to embark on financial assistance to enable the branch attend this year’s AGM of the national body of the Association in Zaria.
To this end, the meeting set up of a 5-Member Committee to source for funds for the AGM and other activities of the branch.
The term of reference of the committee is for members of the committee to visit members of the branch in high position of responsibility such as Commissioners, Permanent secretaries and other key players in the economic and social fabrics of the state to solicit for financial assistance for the planned activities.
The next meeting of the branch comes up on August 31,2023 at NBA secretary, close to NUJ Press Centre, Lugard road,and Crowther Memorial College,Lokoja by 4p.m.
