Heavy Downpour has eroded major culvert in Kogi east, impeding vehicular and human movement and set communities apart, prompting indigenes to cry to Kogi State Government for urgent intervention.
Indigenes of Ogalaja, Ofada, Emakpe, Ofante and Ofabo communities in Ogbonicha ward, Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State have therefore cry on the Kogi State Ministry of Rural Development and the Kogi State Road Maintenance Agency (KOGROMA) to come to their aid.
According to them, the heavy raom had eroded Une River Culvert on the Aloma- Ofabo-Ogalaja Akpanya Road.
Messrs Omojo Godson and Attah Dan, on behalf of the affected communities, also urged the Kogi State Government to look into the plight of the people and rescue them from the danger posed by the erosion.
” This is another major setback to us, the entire culvert on the Une River has been eroded away leaving the communities disjointed.
“Our people could no longer go to their farm and market, how can we cope with the current subsidy saga? This is indeed another major setback to us. We call on the Kogi State Government to come to our rescue immediately.
“A portion of our road between Aloma and Ogalaja is being eroded. In short it has cut off completely, the ADP culvert has finally removed, so motorists like forest Timber movers and Okada are to take note as well as other road users.
“We are currently asking the government and well spirited persons to come to our aid in order to get the road repaired, “they said.
Dan suggested that the presence of Tec engineering construction Company at Aloma, near the location of the damage to the road should be an added advantage to the rehabilitation of the culvert.
The duo urged politicians to see the development as an opportunity get the PVC of all these communities, come November 11, 2023.
