The national wide protest called by the Nigeria Labour Congress,NLC, took place in Lokoja, kogi state, north central Nigeria on Wednesday amid peace.
Our correspondent in Lokoja reports that the state chairman,N LC, Com.Gabriel Amari,who led the protest from Ganaja junction, handed over the congress’ protest letter to the Deputy Governor of the state, Chief Edward Onoja, for onward transmission to the Governor,Alhaji Yahaya Bello.
Onoja,who commended the organised labour for the peace protest,promised to deliver the letter to the governor for onward transmission to the federal government .
The letter borders on the effects of the removal of fuel subsidy and other sundry welfare issues.
Some of the protestants were seen dancing to Fela’s music at the Gate of the Government House,Lokoja and others singing solidarity songs while their letter was being delivered to the state government by the NLC leadership in the state.
The protest was under the watchful eyes of the police with many protestant carrying placards with various inscriptions.
