The Governor of Niger state, north central Nigeria,Mohammed Umaru Bago, has sent the names of 30 commissioner-nominees to the State House of Assembly for screening snd approval.
Our correspondent in Minna, state capital gathered that the list comprises of six women, such as former Commissioner for Women Affairs under the Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu administration, Mrs. Elizabeth Shaba.
The list of commissioners-nominees is coming, barely a month after the Governor made first set of key appointments which include; Chief of Staff, Head of civil Service (HoS) and Secretary to State Government (SSG).
Also on the list are experts and technocrats of various specialties and politicians such as former House of Assembly member, Hon. Binta Mamman (Gurara) and former Commissioner, Hajiya Hadiza Asabe Mohammed.
Others are; Hajiya Titi Auta, Mrs. Fatima Adamu and Hadiza Idris Kuta, believed to be on the list on the basis of their political prowess which earned Governor Bago electoral victory.
Apart from Bida and Kontagora which has two slots each that make up the 27 names, our correspondent reports that the names on the list of Commissioners captured persons from across the 25 Local Government Areas that made up in the state.
The Reporters recalls that the
State House of Assembly had earlier approved request by Governor to appoint 20 Special Advisers expected to support in piloting the affairs of the administration in the next four years.
