Kogi State Government has assured all political parties and candidates in the state of their safety as they go about their electioneering activities towards the November 11, 2023 governorship poll.

Mr. Kingsley Fanwo, Commissioner for Information and Communications, gave the assurance on Tuesday in Lokoja, in a statement he signed and a copy made available to The Reporters.

He said the state government had no clandestine plan to frame up anyone, “not to talk about political Lilliputians with questionable character”.

The commissioner, who stressed that the state government would not condone reckless statements, urged the security agencies to arrest the current trend by acting decisively against inflammatory statements.

According to Fanwo, lack of action has emboldened some political opportunists to think that they could spread lies, incite the people, play politics of ethnic profiling and still get away with them, adding that “the State Government will not succumb to the blackmail.”

“The Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, CON/is the Governor of all the people of Kogi State and he owes them a duty of care and security.

“He swore to protect them and protect them, he shall” and would not allow the state to become a state of anomie and lawlessness,”he said.

Reflecting on on November 11,governorship poll in the state, the Commissioner said that the people of the state
know “the contenders and the pretenders”, adding that ” the candidate of SDP is not a political threat, as far as Kogi State is concerned.”

Fanwo, who advised SDP Candidate, Murtala Ajaka to sort out his problem with security agencies, however, warned those spreading falsehood to prepare to face the law.
