(Updated)Kogi hosts Atiku/Okowa presidential campaign team Saturday

Members of the Peoples Democratic Party, in the three Senatorial districts of the kogi state, in their thousands, trooped to the State Stadium on Saturday enthusiastically to receive the presidential candidate of their party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and his running mate, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.

Our Correspondent reports that Atiku and Okowa other members of the party were being expected,as at the time of this report 12.57 a.m for their presidential campaign, scheduled to take place in less than two months from now.

The Reporters reporters the stadium was full to capacity for the “August visitor”,his running mate,Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and members of the national executive council, called “The rescue team”.

Petty traders and transporters are not left of the mammoth crowd-pulling event as they were seen making brisk business selling various consumable products such as pure water, biscuits, sweets local delicacy such as okpa and transporting party supporters to venue of the event amid blaring music of socio-political undertone,among other side attractions.

Later while addressing party supporters, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, promised to end the nightmare associated with the Ajaokuta Steel complex by completing the project to pave way for job opportunities for mllions of youths roaming the streets of the state and the country at large, if voted to be president of Nigeria.

Atiku also promised Kogi state civil servants that his administration would mean the end to salary arrears.

According to him, his administration will set aside $10 billion for young men and women to set up their businesses as a way of reducing unemployment in the country.

Atiku,who described members of PDP as men and women of integrity, urged Nigerians to vote for PDP from top to bottom to enable the party numerous problems.

Various speakers at the occasion stressed the need for voters to collect their Permanent Voter Card,PVC, to enable them vote for the party.

Highlight of the occasion was the presentation of three decampees, from APC to PBP, to the gathering.

They are: Former Deputy Governor of the state, Chief Simon Achuba, former speaker, kogi State House of Assembly,Alhaji Imam and former Chairman, Okene Local Governnent Area of the state, Alhaji Yahaha Karaku.

Important didnitaries at the occasion include the two former Governors of kogi state, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, Capt.Wada Idris, Central Senatorial district, Barr. Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan among others.
