Former Manager of Kogi United FC of Lokoja, Adams Yahaya, expressed satisfaction over the performance of Morocco, being fourth in the world cup.
The correspondent of The Reporters recalls that the semifinals of the FIFA global football competition ended on Saturday with Croatia defeating Morocco by 2-1.
In a telephone interview with our Correspondent in Lokoja, shortly after the match,Yahaya said that though Moroccan team could not make it to the third position, they however made Africa proud by being the fourth position the first its kind in the history of world football cup.whivh started in the early 1930s.
“It is a very good development for Africa .Even though time was when Moroccans said they were not part of Africa,but they are back and now, made us proud because no African country has ever got to the position Morocco got to in world cup today.
“With what Morocco has done, there is a ray of hope that Africa will definitely rule the world in terms of football one day, it is a question of time,we will get there,”he said.
On the lesson of Morocco’s performance in the world cup to Nigeria, the former manager stressed the need for Nigeria to put it’s foot ball house in order.
He expressed dismay that the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) had been characterised by crises for quite some time.
He added that the authorities running football in the country did not allow government to see that something had gone wrong with such a very important sector until the country could not qualify for the world cup.
He called on the federal government to amend the law of NFF and put the right people in the right place to run football administration in the country for better results.
Adams expressed optimism that as soon as the law of NFF, is amended, it would give room for more qualified people to participate in the election of NFF.
He argued that the amendment of the law would bring in people who knew their onions in football administration, such as football managers who understood the nitty-gritty of football management and its perculiar politics to achieve the desired results for the country.
