A socio-political group has added voice to the advocacy for power shift to be shifted to the western Senatorial District of kogi state, ahead of the Governorship election in Kogi State in 2023.

Beyond this, the group, simply known as socio-political group, has also called on political leaders and opinion moulders in the state to back up the clarion calls for the district to produce the next governor of the state.

Speaking with Journalists in Lokoja the on Wednesday, after the meeting of the group in Lokoja, the Convener of the meeting, Comrade Opeyemi Olusegun, appealed to Governor Yahaya Bello to uphold his pedigree and principle of equity as well as fairness by anointing any good and loyal candidate from Kogi West who had the capacity and credibility to govern the state as his successor.

He noted that time had come for the district to produce the next governor of the state to balance the equation of power rotation among the three Senatorial Districts of the state and in consonance with the spirit of equity justice and fairness.

Olusegun said that Governor Bello would definitely be able to write his name in gold in the history of the state, if he succeed in producing a formidable successor from Kogi West.

According to him, the people of Kogi west will have great sense of belonging, if one of them is given the chance to lead the state as governor of the state next year.

He disclosed that the group had begun wild range of consultations and advocacy with various segments of the society in ensuring the success of the demands for power to be shifted to the western Senatorial District of the state.

“We would continue to consult and advocate for power shift to Kogi West, because our people deserve to provide good governance for the people of the stateā€, Olusegun promised.

The convener stressed the need for the state to tap from the vast intellectual prowess of the people of Kogi West, whom he noted, possessed the requisite wisdom and capability to provide additional good governance system for the growth and development of the state.

The leader of the group expressed optimism that when the people of kogi West is elected as governor, a new realm of rapid socio-economic development trajectory would be the order of the state.
