Former Christina Association of Nigeria (CAN), chairman Niger state chapter, Rev. Matthias Echioda, has asked Christians in the state in particular and across the country to fervently pray for divine intervention because ‘next year’s election is in God’s agenda for greater Nigeria’.
He, however, assured Nigerians that, “God in his infinite mercy is open-hearted to hear prayers of those who prayed and worshipped Him in truth and in spirit. We pray that God give us the best leaders in next year’s general election”.
Echioda in a remark at the ‘Shout 4’, an annual faith-based musical concert organised by the House on the Rock Church, Minna on Saturday said everything about 2023 general elections is beyond humans, hence only prayer for God to grant us peaceful transition is required.
Also in his words of exultations, the Senior Pastor of the Church, PeteRock Sadiq, reminded Christians and Nigerians in general on the need not to lose hope but have faith in God and in His ability to ‘do all things’.
Speaking on the topic, ‘The unstoppable arm of God’, Pastor Sadiq who read from various portions of the Bible, assured that God is merciful and will not allow the counsel of enemies of the country stand against that of the generality of patriotic Nigerians next year.
The Cleric also prayed for all current and aspiring leaders, including all the politicians that attended the programme which took place at the Idris Legbo Kutigi international conference centre, Minna.
In their various contributions, the governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), the Deputy Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), that of Labour Party and their NNPP counterparts expressed preparedness to be religiously unbiased, if voted into power.
The politicians who said they heard about the faith-based gathering of mostly youths from Niger state and decided to be part of it, though not invited, commended Pastor Sadiq and members of the church for encouraging youths to be closer to God, thereby turning their minds away from indulging in societal ills.
Other dignitaries that attended the event include; former Deputy Governor of Niger state, Dr. Shem Zagbayi Nuhu, former Commissioners and the current Commissioner for Justice, Nasara Dan-mallam.
