Controversy greets Davido’s mute over news of son’s death

The mute by David Adeleke, a Nigerian singer of international repute, popularly called Davido,over viral news of the death of his three -year-old first son, Ifeanyi Adeleke, on Tuesday,generated controversy among entertainment enthusiasts in Lokoja, kogi State.

Our Correspondent reports that while some residents expressed shock over the incident, sympathizing the singer of International repute, others maintained that the story was not true.

The Reporters recalls that Nigerians woke up on Tuesday and confronted with the news in the media indicating that the musician had lost his first son, Ifeanyi,he has with his fiancee, Chioma Rowland.

Sources have it that Ifeanyi was drowned inside the pool of his father’s house in Banana estate in Lagos on Monday evening.

The Police Public Relations Officer PPRO for the Police Command in Lagos State, Benjamin Hundeyin has confirmed that all members of the singer’s domestic staff (8) were currently in police custody over the death of Ifeanyi.

The command’s spokesperson confirmed the incident to newsmen in Lagos on Tuesday morning after report of Ifeanyi’s death went viral.

However, another version of news making round in Lokoja is that, Ifeanyi is not dead but under intensive care in an unidentified hospital in Lagos.

A reliable source quoted Davido as wishing Ifeanyi awaking soon, adding that doctors said he would soon be okay.

But an entertaining Correspondent, attached to an international news agency in Lagos,in a telephone interview with The Reporters 2 p.m, on Tuesday said that Ifeanyi had given up the ghost.

She said the mute by Davido was a reflection of the state of his mind at this moment of his life experience, adding the musician had been going through psychological trauma as a result of the tragic event.

According to the source,who spoke with our Correspondent on the condition of anonymity, Davido is overwhelmed by the gravity of the tragic death of his son and such, could not talk at the moment..

“He and Chioma have been moved to Davido’s father”house,”the source added.
