Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria(MMPN),North Central Zone, has felicitated with Imam Abdullahi Abubakar over the National award of Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR), conferred on him by President Muhammadu Buhari recently in Abuja.
The North Central Zonal Coordinator of the body, Mallam Mustafa Abubakar, gave the felicitation in a statement signed by Kogi State Chapter Coordinator and Mallam Muhammad Yabagi and the secretary, Bilkisu Abdullahi-Yahuza and made available a copy available to The Reporters in Lokoja on Thursday.
The North Central Zonal Coordinator described the honour bestowed on Imam Abdullahi Abubakar as well deserved, pointing out that the 86-year-old Muslim cleric in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State,risked his life to shelter 262 Christians in his mosque during crisis in Yelwa Gindi Village in Plateau state.
“It would be recalled that on Wednesday, July 17, 2019, Imam Abdullahi Abubakar was honoured by the United States with the Religious Freedom Award for saving the lives of close to 300 Christians in his mosque in Plateau state,”he went on memory lane.
MMPN, north central zonal coordinator commended President Muhammadu Buhari for recognizing Imam Abubakar’s doggedness and other senior media practitioners for the prestigious honour for ensuring peaceful co-existence, religious harmony and acceptability in Nigeria.
