Maigari of Lokoja dies at 80,Governor Bello mourns

Late Maigari of Lokoja, Alhaji Muhammadu Kabir Maikarfi III,OON.

The Maigari of Lokoja,a first class traditional ruler in Kogi state, Alhaji Muhammadu Kabir Maikarfi III,(OON) died at 80 years on Wednesday evening in Abuja as a result of brief illness.

The Secretary of Lokoja Local Governnent Traditional Council, Muhammed Nalado Usman,who confirmed the death of the traditional ruler, added that he would be buried in Lokoja on Thursday around 4 p.m.

Our Correspondent reports that the deceased traditional ruler,who ascended throne in 1992,was one of the longest serving traditional rulers in the state.

In his condolence message, the Kogi State Governor,Alhaji Yahaya Bello,described the late Maigari of Lokoja as a principled, firm, incompatible and loving father, whose words of advice, guidance and unique leadership would be missed. 

In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Onogwu Muhammed on Wednesday, Bello noted that the late traditional ruler lived a life worthy of emulation and prayed Almighty Allah to grant the Royal Father eternal rest.
