The National Industrial Court on Wednesday, ordered the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), to call off the ongoing Strike.
Delivering a ruling on the interlocutory injunction filed by the Federal government , Justice Polycarp Hamman restrained ASUU from continuing with the industrial action pending the determination of the suit.
This order comes a few hours after the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) threatened not to allow any political campaign hold across the country till students of public universities return to classrooms.(channels tv.).
In a story filed by Daily Post, before the the court judgment, Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has said that any verdict of the Industrial Court that forced lecturers back to school woild have a negative impact.
The President of ASUU, Prof. Emmanuel Osadeko, while meeting with the leadership of the House of Representatives on Tuesday, said if lecturers were forced to return to class,” what kind of education are they expecting students to get?
Meanwhile, the President of the National President of the union, Prof. of.Emmanuel Osodeke says the union is not satisfied with the court judgement and prepared to proceed to the Court of Appeal to pursue the case
A statement signed by its Lagos Zonal Coordinator of ASUU, Dr Adelaja Odukoya, quoted the National Osodeke, as saying, “our lawyer is filing an appeal and stay of execution of the judgment.”
