The Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom on Monday urged the national leadership of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, to address the injustices done to Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike as not doing so would be risky for the party in the 2023 general elections.

Ortom, who handed down the warning during the expanded caucus meeting of the party at the Government House in Makurdi, frowned at the manner the leadership of the party was handling its internal wranglings.

He expressed worry that the party had failed to deploy its internal mechanism to resolve the crisis.

“I have offered objective suggestions on how the crisis can be resolved. But the truth must be said that the conduct of our convention and post management were not done right. The party could not deploy its internal crisis mechanism.

“There was injustice meted to my friend, Wike. The leadership of the party should make effort to resolve the crisis because everybody is important and every vote counts. We should always allow democracy to prevail. We are too old to be coerced into a thing we know nothing about. If you dismiss us that we are not important, that is dangerous.

“There are minor differences in the State which the reconciliation committee has resolved. Our agenda is to rescue this country from the hands of APC and redeem it. I remain committed to the PDP and working to ensure its victory in 2023,” the governor said.
