MMPN inaugurates first Kogi Exco

Kogi State chapter of Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria(MMPN) on Wednesday, inaugurated its first Executive council since the creation of the state in 1991, with a call on the leadership of the council to consult members before taking decision that would move the chapter forward.

The Guest Speaker at the occasion,Sheikh Sadiq Ahmed,who made the call during the inuaguration which took place at the NUJ Press Centre, Lokoja, said doing so is in conformity with the injunction of Islam concerning leadership and management of followership.

“Consult and in the process, don’t base your consultation on biases such as tribe and gender among others.

“Collate ideas from members of different background, don’t jettison any idea, leaders must avoid belittling peoples’ idea or judgemental but harness such ideas and make meaning out of them to ensure effective management of any organisation..

“If you are the consulting type, Almighty Allah would always be there for you.

“You must also delegate responsibility to members and give time bound to achieve the desired result,”the guest speaker urged the new Exco.

He also called on the members to cooperate with the leadership of the faith-based organization and shun rebellion tendency against the leadership, adding that action is in consonance with the injection of Islam.

In his speech at the occasion, the Chairman, Jamatul Nasir Islam,JNI, Ambassador Usman Bello, commended the organization for giving birth to the exco.

Amb. Bello, who was represented by the Public Relations Officer for JNI, Malam Suleiman Ibrahim, expressed the commitment of JNI to assist the exco members to achieve the desired aims and objectives of M

Our Correspondent reports that the Grand Kadi of the state, who was the Chairman of the occasion,Justice Abdulkarim Aruwa, inaugurated the new exco through the Chief Registrar, Sharia Court of Appeal,Mal.M.M Bello.

The Coordinator of the new exco,Mal. Mohammed Yabagi, promised that he and his members would lead with the fear of Almighty Allah and be exemplary in conduct and in correcting misconception others have about Islam for the development of the organization.

Yabagi, who thanked JNI and Sharia Court of Appeal for their input reflecting in the development of the organization, urged them not to relent in such assistance and guidance.

Our Correspondent reports that the 23-member council comprises of 12 exco members, four Shura committee and seven Special Advisers with Bilkisu Abdullahi-Yahuza of Radio Kogi as secretary and Muhammed Sa’adat of the state Ministry of Information as Public Relations Officer, PRO among others.
