NAN condoles with Ex-Acting MD’s family

The Management of News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday condoled with the family of a former Acting Managing Director and former Editor-in-Chief of the Agency, late Alhaji Ibrahim Mammaga, in Kano.

Our Correspondent recalls that Mammaga died on Thursday in Kano at 62, during a brief illness.

The management team was led by the agency’s Director of Administration and Human Resource Management, Alhaji Abdulhadi Khaliel, accompanied by a Deputy Editor-in-Chief in the agency, Alhaji Ismail Abdulaziz.

Khaliel,on behalf of NAN, prayed Almighty Allah to forgive Mammaga’s shortcomings, grant him Al-Jannatul Firdausi and give the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

A brother of the deceased, Alhaji Garba Kawu-Mammaga, who received the delegation, thanked the management for the visit.

Kawu-Mammaga said though their brother had retired from service, the way people were trooping to condole with them was an indication that he lived in peace and harmony with them.

Mammaga retired on April 1, 2020, after attaining the mandatory retirement age of 60 years.

The deceased left behind a wife and six children.

Others who also condoled with the family were three former NAN Editors-in-Chief,Alhaji Lawal Ado Daura, Alhaji Yusuf Zango and Alhaji Idris Abdulrahman.

The rest include the NAN Kaduna Zonal Manager, Alhaji Abdullahi Salihu, the immediate-past Zonal Manager, NAN, Jos, Alhaji Abdullahi Yusuf, who is also a Senior Special Assistant to Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje on Information.

The Editor-in-Chief of The Reporters,an online publication based in Lokoja, Alhaji D U Ahmed, expressed shock over the death of Alhaji Mammaga.

Ahmed, an Assistant Editor-in-Chief in NAN, who worked with the deceased before both of them retired from the agency in 2020, described the deceased as an easy going,kind and a compassionate leader among others qualities of a leader.

He also expressed condolences to the Mammagas, prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive the deceased’s shortcomings and grant aljanah firduasi.
