The Senior Special Assistant on pension matters to Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa state,Mal.Abdullahi Adokwe-Ladan, says appropriate sanction await any civil servant that subject pensioners to unnecessary bottlenecks making it difficult for them to access their gratuity and other benefits.

Adokwe-Ladan gave the warning while briefing journalists at the end of a meeting with pension desk officers and leaders of pensioners’ union in Lafia.
The Governor’s aide described the attitude of internal auditors and pension desk officers of Local Government and Development Areas, towards the smooth computation of retirement benefits of local Government workers as worrisome.
He said: ”People get stagnated when they are not on salary and they’re not on pension, the state government is not happy over this, you know governor Abdullahi Sule, one of the priority areas in his administration is to ensure a robust pension administration in the state.
”Since his assumption in office, the payment of pension and gratuity is being regular and all the time, he has been on dialogue with the leadership of pensioners to ensure the welfare of pensioners in the state”.
Earlier, the Director General, State Pension Bureau, Mr Suleaman Musa-Nagogo, represented by the Bureau’s Director of Administration and Supply, Mr Musa Aboki, called on officers in charge of pension to be mindful of the illegal promotion of workers and be prudent at all times.
Contributing, the Auditor General, Local Government, Mr Danladi Idris Apa, represented by the Director of Pension, Mr John Azaki and the state Chairman, Nigeria Union of pensioners, Mr Hudu Baba-Abdullahi, urged the affected officers to adhere to what they have been told to better the life of pensioners at the grassroots.
