The Commissioner of Police in kogi state,CP Edward Egbuka,says no explosion in Lokoja,describing the poported explosion as reported in the media as a hoax.
Hoax, according to Merriam-, webster dictionary,is a trick making people into believing or accepting as genuine, something false and often preposterous.
He cleared the air while speaking with the Correspondent of The Reporters in Lokoja on Tuesday during a telephone interview.
According to him, when the command was informed of the development, he quickly deployed his men at the bomb disposal unit to the area to ascertain the truth of the matter.
He told our correspondent that the bomb disposal unit of the Command confirmed that it was a hoax.
The police commissioner advised Journalists to always confirm crime related report at their disposal with the police before publication to avoid creating panic in the minds of the people.
According to a media report,an explosion was heard around the office of the secretary to the state government at about 8 30 a.m on Tuesday.

Deputy Public Relations Officer for the Command in the state, and a copy made available to The Reporters,CP Egbuka denied granting interview in respect of the issue.
The police boss further said:”On Tuesday 26th of July, 2022 at about 0745hrs, the Command received a distress call that, there was an object that looked like an IED placed on the fence of the Ministry of Local Governnent and chieftaincy Affairs, opposite Mohammad Buhari Square,Lokoja.
“The Bomb Disposal Unit was immediately deployed to the scene.
“On arrival,they found out that it was a plastic bottle and a can of insecticide, wrapped together with a power source to look like an IED.
” It was discovered to be a hoax and the object was removed by operatives of Bomb Disposal Unit”.
