By Dada Ahmed.

The Chairman, Okene Local Governnent Area of kogi state,Engr. Abdulrazaq Muhammad, said there was no truth in a viral video message in which a lady claimed to have been attacked in Okene by a criminal gang suspected to be bandits.

According to the lady, some of her fellow passengers in the commercial vehicle they boarded were kidnapped.

The Chairman cleared the air in a statement signed in Okene by Abdulmumin Abubakar, his Special Adviser on Media & Publicity and a copy available to The Reporter,an online publication.

Muhammad said as soon as he got the viral video message,he immediately mobilized security men, including local vigilantes and community leaders to trace all entry and exit points down to the local government borders with other states or sister council areas to verify the veracity of the video message and act accordingly.

“After careful security checks, no such event took place within Okene Local Government, even in the last 48hours,” he said.

The Chairman, therefore, urged the general public to disregard the video message and go about their normal and lawful businesses.

Muhammad, however, advised the people to be vigilant and report any security information at their disposal to the nearest security outfit or directly to his office for prompt response.
