The mechanic, who preferred to be known as “JJ” for security reason, made the disclosure to the Correspondent of The Reporters in Lokoja on Friday in an interview.

“JJ”, a resident of Wada estate, behind Old Poly quarters in Lokoja, told our correspondent that he effected the arrest of the teenage suspect alone at a nearby bush in the estate on Thursday evening.

JJ,who spoke with our Correspondent in pigin english, said”: As you know, this estate has been turned to the den of Kidnappers in recent time.

“We can on longer sleep with our two eyes closed in the night due to kidnapping of neighbours.

“After the Kidnappers released that naval officer they abducted about two weeks ago in our area after receiving some ransom, they came again back to kidnap more people.

“On Thursday,as I was returning from farm at about 6 p.m and approaching my area, I heard strange movement coming in my opposite direction as well as people shouting Kidnapper, Kidnapper, catch am,catha am.

“I immediately took cover in near by bush to know what is happening. At this stage, I saw a boy of about 15 years being given hot chase by some people.

“Immediately he took cover, closed to where I hid, I gently went to him, held his hand tightly and pressed him down over powered all with empty hand and took him to the estate.

” I handed him over to vigilante people who in turn handed him over to the police.

The mechanic, who expressed fear over the increasing cases of kidnapping in the estate, urged the police to create a police post for the estate.

This,he noted, became necessary to check the activities of Kidnappers and other criminals making life very much unbearable for the residents of the estate.
