Members of the Kogi House of Assembly on Wednesday, turned down the confirmation of former Commissioner for Information in the state, Kingsley Fanwo.
Our Correspondent gathered that Fanwo was among other two commissioner-nominees that appeared before the Assembly for screening and to be confirmed as Commissioners.
The Reporters recalls that the Governor of the state, Alhaji Yahaha Bello, had earlier sent the name of Fanwo with two other commissioner-nominees: Zakari Usman and Engr. Mohamed Abdulmutalab from Dakena and Okene respectively to the Assembly for screening and confirmation.
The online publication also recalls that Fanwo had in April 2022, resigned his appointment to contest primary election for Yagba Federal Constituency on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, but lost to Folorunsho Olafemi.
Our Correspondent further reports that the lawmakers cited lack of concurrence as the basis for their inability to confirm Fanwo during the plenary session.
Responding, the Speaker, Dr Matthew Kolawale, therefore stepped down Fanwo’s confirmation for another legislative session.
The members, however, confirmed two other commissioner-nominees, whom they asked to “bow and go” with clear endorsement of all the members.
The Assembly also confirmed the appointment of Alhaji Chogudo Sule-Ahmed as the substantive Clerk of the Assembly.
Ahmed took over from Ibrahim Amoka who retired from public service recently.
